Course Compliance
o This engine training course is a non-mandatory course. It does however comply with/or corresponds to the selected topics of the SCTW ’95 regulations (Code), namely Table A-III/1.
o This engine course is prepared with the intention of closing skills gap and improving work performance/confidence of engine personnel/officers.
knowledge on engine components and functionality of all engine systems.
Particular focus is put on the engine control system, UNIC, for the X-Engines and the integration into the vital engine systems [i.e. Fuel injection (including emission control), servo oil and cylinder lubrication, etc.].
Theoretical lectures are enriched with the use of simulated UNIC operator’s interface LDU-20 therefore optimizing engine operation and dealing with various scenarios of engine failure.
Operation advanced training also contains operational experience and various service aspects.

Applicants should demonstrate a good theoretical knowledge of two-stroke low-speed diesel engines and have certain operational experience on RT-series or similar conventional / electronic or common rail engines.
Participants will learn WinGD’s electronically controlled engine features and deepen them knowledge on engine components and functionality of all engine systems. Particular focus is about the engine control UNIC Flex, for the W-X Engines and the integration into the vital engine systems [i.e. Fuel injection (including emission control), servo oil and cylinder lubrication, etc…].

The objective of the training course
At the end of the training the trainees should be able to:
· Differentiate a conventional 2-stroke engine with an electronic control 2-stroke engine;
· Understand the design and function of each main component;
· Safe operation of ME Engine in mechanical and electrical aspects
· Understand the different bus system, hydraulic systems, and electrical diagrams;
· Basic trouble shooting and restoration of electronic control system
· Correctly operate the MOP, MPC through practical hands-on exercises using developed modules/ interactive simulations,
· Application of “best practices” of ME Engine Control System
· Diagnose common operational faults and do some troubleshooting and maintenance.
Applicants should demonstrate a good theoretical knowledge of four-stroke medium-speed
diesel engines and have certain operational experience on similar 4-stroke conventional or electronic engines.
Objective of the Training Course
Participants will able to learn the different electrical structure of the plant, and deepen their
knowledge on diesel electric propulsion components and functionality of all electric propulsion systems.
Particular focus is put on the safe and efficient operation of a diesel electric propulsion control system, by understanding the design and function of each main components, to include evaluation, fault-analysis, and necessary maintenance.
Theoretical lectures are enriched with the use of power points, videos and sharing of practical experience of the ETO.
Course contents can be customized according to the actual type of equipment onboard.
